Re: Shuffling and unshuffling (was Re: ID3 tag question)

We still don't do it just like xmms's random play; we do it like we
reshuffle the playlist. Displaying the shuffled or unshuffled playlist
is good, but also think about clicking on a song "out of order" - what
will play after that track, what happens when you go back? If you are
halfway through your shuffled playlist and want to hear the first song
you heard again, it would play the whole shuffled playlist in order
again. Likewise if you hit the back button you would not go to the
previous song you heard. Also think about what happens when you add
files to the playlist - currently we don't have
random-but-hear-all-the-new-ones, do we?

I like the idea of shuffling (and displaying) the playlist; Being able
to unshuffle it (to the order you created it) is good, as is the ability
to sort the playlist.

I just think that random play is another good feature, and it should
have the features I described (display playlist, play randomly
without repeats (my opinion), gracefully handle additions and
out-of-order playing). I'd be happy to implement this if no one gets to
it in the next day or two.
