That's good feedback.

Have you tried running the powersupply fan at 5V. too?

With the C3, you should be able to run all the fans at a low
voltage (5 or 7 volts) and still be cool enough. That should be
substantially quieter.

I have one of these. It's ok, but I
have a couple problems with it.

First, there is a CPU heatsink/fan included with it, but the one I
got

was defective. The one of the fan blades would strike the
casing

every rotation, creating a really annoying buzz. No biggie
though,

$15 at Fry's fixes that.

2nd, the fan inside the powersupply is very loud. It's one of
those

~1.5" fans you see in 1U rackmount cases, and it's nearly
impossable

to find a less noisy one.

3rd, I have it next to my stereo and was planning on using it as a

divx/DVD/mp3 server using the TV out. However on my 36"
Sony Wega the

image appears off-center. It's closer to the center if I pipe
the

image through the Tivo, but still far from perfect. If you use
run

windows you might be able to adjust this, but I'm running Linux,
of

course :)

As far as the hardware compatibility with linux, everything seems
to

work OK. I haven't tried any firewire devices yet, but the
controller

seems to be detected.

There is a small fan at the back that is rather loud, but running
it

at 5v makes it much more quiet and the case temp isn't impacted
too

much.

I think these are around $270 at Fry's (could be wrong tho')
