Hi Jacob, Sorry it took me so long to get to this. I just checked in a couple of fixes and documentation on the HTTP interface to the server. Should make it much easier for you to build your wrappers. For example: wget http://slimserver:9000/display?p1=Hi&p2=Mom&p3=5 puts Hi Mom up on the display for 5 seconds. Check it out and let me know what you think... -dean Sean Adams wrote: > Regarding the command line interface: the question has come up several > times on both the -dev and -users lists, and the answer depends on how > much work you want to do. The easiest way to add custom command-line > controls would be to write wrappers for the web interface, using lynx, > wget, or fetch. I'd be willing to write those wrappers - the issue is that there will need to be some new commands: extcontrol Sets the server in 'external control' mode line1 (text) Puts (text) on line 1 line2 (text) Puts (text) on line 2 clear Clear VFD irqueue Sends the remote buttons that have been pressed since the last irqueue request: up, down, etc keepext "ping" command - see below srvcontrol Puts the server back in 'internal control' - also happens 10 seconds after last external-control command. The 10-second delay is to guard against crashing or interrupted scripts. So a script might look like this: #!/usr/bin/perl slimp3cmd extcontrol slimp3cmd clear slimp3cmd line1 "Hello, World!" sleep 5 slimp3cmd srvcontrol Sound good? - Jacob -- "Terminak #3 has bad keyboard.
