Linux init.d file for server.pl

I put this at the end of an unrelated post; it should have been 
broken out separately:

One more thing: I wrote up a Makefile and Unix start-up file
for the server. Run "Make install" and the SliMP3 files get
installled into a system directory (/usr/local/lib/slimp3)
and the start-up script into /etc/rc.d/init.d, and it runs
chkconfig (if available) to wire it into the runlevel-specific
directories. I'll pass that along to a colleague who is on
your "CVS blessed" list for him to figure out what to do
with it, if anything. In the meantime, anyone can FTP
it from
       ftp.openeye.com
in pub/slimp3-linuxboot.sh - just run it in the directory
where you untar'd the server files. It adds a Makefile, a
README, and a subdir rc/, then read the README.LINUXBOOT
file.

Postscript: The Makefile renames "server.pl" to "slimp3d"
when it installs it into INSTALLDIR.  This makes everything
a little cleaner in the startup script.  It also creates

/var/run/slimp3d.pid as the PID of the running server
/var/log/slimp3d as the stdout/stderr of the server

The idea is that you untar the server files somewhere like
   /usr/local/src/slimp3
and then run my shell script in that directory to overlay
the Makefile (and so on) files.  Then read README.LINUXBOOT
and run
    make install
    make setup
    /etc/rc.d/init.d/slimp3d start

To stop the server, use the canonical form
    /etc/rc.d/init.d/slimp3d stop

Maybe this post should have gone into the -dev group.
