Re: flashing display problem

Thanks for the suggestion, Chris.  More data:

- there are no *.m3u files anywhere on the file system that server.pl
points to.  In fact, I've never run winamp on that system - I use
samba to mount it on the Windows machines around the house and we run
winamp on those.

- I brought up a clean RedHat 7.1 on an unused machine and installed &
configured server.pl on it, changed the SliMP3's server address to
point to it, and voila, all is well.  The flashing has stopped.  This
new system is also Perl 5.6.1

My conclusion is that my original server is patchworked beyond
recovery and I need to rebuild the system.  Hopefully, LVM is
compatible from 2.2 to 2.4!

One more thing: I wrote up a Makefile and Unix start-up file for the
server.  Run "Make install" and the SliMP3 files get installled into a
system directory (/usr/local/lib/slimp3) and the start-up script into
/etc/rc.d/init.d, and it runs chkconfig (if available) to wire it into
the runlevel-specific directories.  I'll pass that along to a
colleague who is on your "CVS blessed" list for him to figure out what
to do with it, if anything.  In the meantime, anyone can FTP it from
	ftp.openeye.com
in pub/slimp3-linuxboot.sh - just run it in the directory you untar'd
the server files.  It adds a Makefile, a README, and a subdir rc/,ten
read the README.LINUXBOOT file
