Brian,

That sounds extrememly helpful...and technical.  Although I was 
hoping for a simpler solution, I'll give it a try tonight.  Thanks 
for the thorough information.

BTW, this wouldn't be an issue if the original remote pictured on 
slimdevices.com (Sony RM-V301) would have been shipped instead of the 
V201. I could probably have used the V301 remote with my receiver.  
Oh well.
