Hi guys:

I just received a SliMP3 player last week and have been using it for
the last five days without incident. I have the latest firmware (2.0)
and the latest software (3.1b1).

Last night, after about 8 songs of playing, the music died (ode to Don
McLean). I looked at the player and it was completely black. I was
able to press the Power button on the remote and the player would
start back up. Strange, I thought, but perhaps an anomaly. Well, it
happened three more times last night (over a period of 90 minutes) and
I finally gave up out of frustration. Each time, I had to either
recycle the power by unplugging the unit or turn it back on with the
remote. It would always go to a completely black screen on the
player.

I have read the Yahoo groups back to September and see that variations
of this problem have been reported on several occasions but I never
see a final resolution reported (e.g., "send me a network dump" but
nothing follows).

Can anyone assist me in figuring our what causes this problem and how
to fix it?

Here is my setup:

*Mac OSX 10.2.3 running the server software (with a static IP). I
rebooted the server this morning but I don't know if that will
matter.

*the player is running on DHCP

*A Linksys Wireless Access Point Router with 4-Port Switch - Version 2
(BEFW11S4). The router is connected via the "uplink" port to
a 3Com
16 port hub. The server computer and the player connect into this
hub. Everything related to the SliMP3 is running wired. Nothing is
wireless. Note: this morning I upgraded the firmware on the router to
its most recent version. I don't know if that will help.

When it happens, I look at the web interface and the server seems to
still be running but the player is completely dead. I have no history
of any network problems on this network and these issues arose at a
time when network traffic was virtually non-existent (all other
machines on the network were either off or idle).

This is an incredible product. Thanks for your help.

Kindest regards,

Mark
