the fm patents should be expired by now so it's fair game, korg and
electron already have fm synths on the market.
the DX1 has a pretty remarkable user interface, which makes fm fairly
intuitive to program. unlike the dx7, which is pretty painful unless you
can visualise all the parameters for an operator in your mind whist
programming.
