I suspect there'd be no need to use high density controllers for this, as a maximum of 128 banks would be more than enough. But wouldn't this require some recoding of the firmware to make it possible to do this?

Can you access the HCART's additional banks via MIDI Bank Select (MSB: control change 0, LSB: control change 32) messages from a sequencer or suchlike?
