A couple of things to be aware of:=C2=A0 The DX7 and other synths from that=
era predate the current MIDI spec and really want to have a 5V signal on t=
he line.=C2=A0 The MOTU Fastlane (which I have) does this and has always be=
en reliable in my setup, even in the days before OS X.=C2=A0 However, I rec=
ently bought one of those 4x4 no-name interfaces, and it only delivers 3.3V=
on the data lines.=C2=A0 The result is that it does not reliably send data=
to my DX7; note triggers work but SYSEX data usually fails.=C2=A0 The MOTU=
 works without a hitch.

The other thing is that many librarian apps (like Sysex Librarian) while a=
ble to work with class compliant devices, do not work with Core MIDI.=C2=A0=
They have their own interface code and if you are using Audio MIDI Setup t=
o configure your system, these apps will ignore those settings and possibly=
cause a conflict with other MIDI apps.=C2=A0 You will also not be able to =
route their data using AM Setup.

I just went through all of this within the last week, and it was a lot of =
effort to troubleshoot because the symptoms were hard to observe repeatably=
.
