Sheeba Closing - Thoughts

Hi everyone,

I think this is a wonderful (and probably very difficult to amend) ending for
Siberry. She talked a lot on her recent tour about the joys of being a
musician. About what that meant -- to be a musician; to travel, to share, to
engage, to embark, to create and then move on.

I think Jane has fought this part of her person for many years, probably her
entire career. She seems to be accepting her "role" as a musician more and
more. I am guessing she felt (among many reasons) part of being a "musician"
was defined by loosening ties, letting things be, moving. She used the word
travel, and journey a lot as well during her most recent shows. I think Jane
is a musician. A traveler.

I also think this can only mean great things for us -- as "fans." There is
little else for her to do now, but create. The "business" of it can be left
in another's hands.

I am greatly looking forward to this new part of the journey Siberry has
chosen to share with us.

be willing,
finn

"and those are my swans, believe me."

"O, i'm gonna save myself."

"'Ah!' he said, slowly turning his eyes towards me. 'Well! If you was writin'
to her, p'raps you'd recollect to say that Barkis was willin', would you?'

'That Barkis is willing,' I repeated, innocently. 'Is that all the message?'

'Ye-es,' he said, considering. 'Ye-es. Barkis is willin'."

Suman. i keep my vigil.

  Hello Everyone.

  HIGH MOUNTAIN PASS
I watched the donkey train slowly wend it's way down the mountain trails to
the valley and turned away to do other work. Two days later news came of a
early vernal festival just beyond the first mountain. Apparently Maybelline,
the SHEEBA donkey, became engrossed in a wild version of Midsummer Night's
Dream and incited the rest of the train to throwing the Valentines sale
packages at the stage. Please let us know if your order is not completely
perfect.

  PUCK
Meanwhile, I recall my first acting role. It was Puck in the aforementioned
play. Apparently, I was a big hit and for the rest of my time at camp the
youngest tribe followed me everywhere. The lesson: falling offstage in the
middle of a monologue can far outshine any talent one might have. Another
lesson: people love to laugh (I didn't hurt myself).

  THAT CERTAIN BIRD
This morning I awoke at 6 and found myself walking out the door at 6:03 not
knowing where I was going. Rode and rode and rode, awash in Spring bird songs.
Cherry blossoms only slightly lighter than the grey. Then around the corner
and there was Dawn. Forgotten with the enclose of Winter. Hello!

  DEBTS
As the Spring Equinox nears around March 20, I would ask that if anyone
feels anything is outstanding from me or SHEEBA, let me know. I would like to
complete all circles and can't always remember.

  I AM FINALLY CLOSING SHEEBA
It will have been 9 years on May 17, 2005. It has been a very special time
of learning and struggle and sometimes deep satisfaction. I wanted freedom and
it has come in a different fashion than I expected. Now as I let go of more
and more things, not always knowing why I have to and resisting it, I see the
signs of a greater hand at work. I am sure you know what I mean.

  WHAT THIS MEANS
  o Website will stay open
o Webstore will be closed - we may have MP3s for sale later as they do not
require inventory or staff, but we'll see.
o I am disconnecting the SHEEBA phone and email by the equinox. There will
only be links to my manager, Kim Blake, for work or licensing, or the
web-master for problems. I may still send out the odd Museletter. I feel you
nodding - okay perhaps odd but hopefully charming.

  USE VILLAGE GREEN FOR QUESTIONS
o This will be the main place to get information from the community that you
can't get elsewhere on the website.
o 3 new topics will be added:
1/ SIMPLE - tips for living higher quality life
2/ KNAPSACK - the least you could travel with
3/ PURE - submit quotes from elders - life advice for teenagers
4/ DONKEYS AT THE WELL - guess

  PATRONS
We no longer have the pay-per-studio hour programme but any 'Angels'
interested in higher levels of support can contact my manager, Kim Blake.
[email protected]. Past patrons: your contributions are still untouched, to be
used only when I start the final recordings.

  EQUAL PARTS LIGHT AND DARK
I have loved the direct contact with you all and that is one thing I will
miss the most. The team that I am working with is the best ever and though I
will continue on with my lawyer, manager and accountant, I will also miss the
office staff. There has been great and greatly needed. I think you are the
greatest fans (pardon the word, I mean it in the best sense) and sometimes
think what other artists miss without direct contact with such intelligent,
interesting, FUNNY people.

  TO ALL DONKEYS
No, I do not believe Equinox is referring to 'equine' but that is an
interesting observation on your part. Perhaps equines are equal parts
something.

  LAMBS BEING RECALLED
I was away from the office when LAMBS were sent out so they weren't signed.
I expect you ordered them mainly for this. So, you can either send them back
and I'll sign them and include a 'teenager' cassette for your postage, or I
can send a little note with a ribbon to tie around the next. PLEASE let me
know. It is no trouble.

  ANOTHER VALLEY
When I turned away from the donkey train that was taking you your Valentines
day parcels, I noticed a light coming from the other side of the mountain. I
will take my knapsack and, once I have left a cup in the sink to signify that
I am coming back, I shall take my leave. I have my drawing compass, though
perhaps I don't need it. I could just use string and a stick. Or lose the
string, just use strands of hair. Then I need nothing.

I wish you all abundance and strength to reflect your greatest beauty in
these times. Anchoring the light, us all.

  Jane Siberry
