The dire end?

Is Jane's situation that dire? Doesn't she do well with her tours, fill
those halls, feel connected to her sea of fans? I gather that for many it's
touring that brings in the $$: > the touring, and constantly...

PS Speaking of endings, (and "dire"), a more definitive one: A few months
ago Anne Dyer ("an' dire"), a SF based jazz singer (and dancer) (and dyer!)
who did my favorite reworkings of Beatles songs (in "Revolver, another
spin..."-- ask Santa for it..) announced that she was leaving performing in
order to concentrate on marriage, motherhood, yoga... 
	Before I had a chance to encourage her to put together an album of
reworked Hendrix material-- drat! (That Gil Evans Does Hendrix disc is
sooooo disappointing...) 
	 
 and I can empathize with the frustration an artist might 
>feel when their creations are not embrassed by the public at large. While
she 
>has her loyal following, Jane never "made it" in the world of popular music.
