not at all unusual that one's view of someone as a performer (let's call 
it "the message") may be very different from the view of the person as a 
person (let's call it "the messenger").

a random example that popped out of my head - bruce willis (of 
"moonlighting", "die hard", "pulp fiction", "sin city", etc.). i have 
voluntarily paid to see movies he starred in, and enjoyed them 
immensely. yet, from what little i know him as a person (e.g. political 
views, other tidbits here and there), i would not enjoy watching him run 
a garage sale, and wouldn't want to have dinner with him.

a more relevant example: madonna. i have many of her albums and have 
enjoyed them a lot (moreso the earlier ones). i wouldn't be surprised if 
before i exit this earth i plop down too much money to see her in 
concert. but at this point i wouldn't have any interest in hanging out 
with her anywhere (as in, being with her when she's not performing).
