I didn't see any controversy, just people trying to chat and over-explaining
ourselves in a couple of messages, one of which was mine. Everyone wrote only
friendly messages about their thoughts on the subject; it's just that the
first reply to me started talking about the list and atmosphere instead of simply
commenting on the points I made (I had been hoping for a giggle in reply
instead of comments about the list itself), so it made me very self conscious and
worried that someone was thinking I was attacking people when I wasn't. I think
the less we talk about the list itself (how we post, explaining ourselves)
and the more we just participate (focusing on our points and our meaning), the
less self conscious we'll all be. Sorry for a message or two of mine arriving ou
t of order (at least in AOL) and sorry I was at first getting confused at
what well-meaning Ben was saying in reply. No one has said anything attacking
anyone in this thread. It's been a good one, and Barbara brought up some
interesting info about one biased journalist who has opined on Islam-related subjects
before.

As for the discussion on the Harold and Maude film song that has made its way
into the new album, that mention from DER SF has me interested in going out
to the store to check out this new album. I sort of feel like renting Harold
and Maude again for the umpteenth time too after this thread. Also, the
message you replied to was one where I didn't separate my own reply well from the
person whose snippet I was quoting and they ran together because I forgot that
in AOL I have to add brackets to my email quoting, sorry about that.

cheers,

Mary
