I boughtB "Travelogue" when it came out with great expectations after the two orchestral covers on "Both Sides Now".B I was disappointed.B I felt that the arrangements were overpowering and too sweeping.B I put it on again not that long ago and liked it better so, perhaps I just need to spend more time with it. It's an orchestral concert, but in the liner notes, he producer makes sure you know that it's not a 'greatest hits with orchestra' lbum, but rather a cross-section of her songs recorded with a lush beautiful rchestra behind her. Moving and sad and thrilling and amazing all at once. ne of my best purchases! ig Love to the Siblings, enThomas >>> <[email protected]> 5/23/2007 11:50 AM >>> actually saw Joni in concert during this tour (Providence, late ummer '79) and to this day what I remember most is being transported, lmost spiritually, by the song "Shadows and Light" as it was done in erson. And I remember hearing it on the record, some time afterwards I didn't own "Hissing" at that point, sorry to say!), and almost eeling like it was a different song, or that maybe I had somehow nflated it in my memory into something it wasn't. Probably would be ice to do as Bruce suggests and watch the DVD. Thanks for the uggestion! The band is TDF!!: Pastorius, Metheny, Michael Brecker, Don Alias, Lyle Mays. I cannot think of a band supporting a singer with more technical "chops" than this one. Fortunate Joni. >A good collection of songs, esp. for me two from the Hissing of those Lawns: "Edith and the Kingpin" and the sublime "Shadows and Light." I love this album - probably my favorite live album of all time. Black Crow" s tremendous. "Shadows and Light" is better than the studio version - t eally comes alive. This is Joni at the peak of her game, and it is an mazing and. ________________________________________________________________________ OL now offers free email to everyone.
