Dear Siblings, Last night, Issa's birthday, I went to the show at the World Cafe Live in Philadelphia. My partner, Robert, and 8 friends joined me. Most of our friends had never heard of Jane Siberry, let alone Issa. The reactions of our friends ranged from "wierd, but interesting," to "outright amazing." Everyone was moved by her presence. This was about the 25th time I've seen her (I've lost count). The show had the newest and most unrecorded material I've ever seen her do. Tim Ray's accompaniment on piano was exquisite and symbiotic with her songs. Issa and Tim play so well together. It's a joy to witness. The show started off with the most avant-garde material and gradually flowed into the more melodic, beautiful, heart-wrenching songs and stories that I've always loved about her performances. The show was simply incredible! It's a must see. If you can go, please do--and take as many friends as you can, especially people open to new experiences. I daresay that no one will be disappointed. After the show and the usual meet and greet with Issa in the lobby, she came and sat down with us and our friends who stayed at our table to share reactions and visit with each other. Issa was gracious, funny, and interested in meeting each of us and hearing our reactions to the show--while sipping on her decaf with lots of cream. It was the perfect ending to a magically wonderful show. Robert and I will be going to the Charlottesville, Virginia show next Tuesday. Is anyone else on the list going? We're going early to help with putting up concert posters around town. Peace, Stevik
