Vancouver, night two = carbon copy of night one. Except I was on the right hand side instead of the left. And Adrienne did five songs instead of four. And Jane flubbed the perfume part of "When It Comes Right Down to It" . . . . . . still: lovely. "Oui, Allo." "When We Are Queen." "Marry Me." "First There Was a Shell." A few funny songs. Many earnestly earnest songs about family and self-worth, beautiful people everywhere, etc. . . and at least three referring to one's inner "superhero" (a mini-musical on a theme? Hard to tell). Earnest but cheeky at the same time. "Mamma" = the stand-out piece, really, about trying to end the parent-child contract. Some fantastic melody lines on that one, and the closing number both nights (which I was into more the second night . . . five or so narratives about people easily ignored). The piano/six-string bass/voice combo worked really well. Musically it was like a jazzified version of "The Walking" (album) -- but happier, and with more overt hooks. Wish you all were there. Glen
