You need to check out out Issa's "Dragon Dreams!"  I think you'll be
pleasantly surprised.

I have Veda Hille's "Spine" CD, which I think I mentioned some time ago is one
of my all-time favorite albums. She's kinda like Ani DiFranco, but more artsy
/ quirky / creative.  I'll have to check out her new one!

I haven't heard Issa's latest, but I just purchased Veda Hille's
"this riot life" and do commend it to all fellow Jane fans. (I say
Jane 'cause I haven't entered into Issa territory yet.) She's an
ambitious Canadienne singer-song writer, from BC. Her songs are eclectic,
highly
arranged, and involve scoring. On the cover you see the dynamic multicolored
rays coming out of her score! She covers the gamut from punchy R&R to a
quiet classical mode. She thanks the exemplary Andy Partridge of XTC fame, tho
I
know not why.

She is the best Fem singer-songwriter I've come upon since learning about
our wonderful Jane. Or I should say, this disc is. [I dunno about her others.
They may be for techno-head-bangers...]
Highly recommended.

Also, if anyone is looking for more recommendations to usher in 2009, two
other
exemplary discs that I've come upon in the last year (I learned of these
from my 15 year old son!, I'm delighted /proud to report) are
"Ships" by the Danielson Family and "Rise Above" by the
Dirty Projectors.

So if you agree with me about Veda, do look out for those two.

And if you agree me about "this riot life".... then I'd love the
learn about any new winners that you've come upon.
