Funny, I didn't chime in last week because I had already told my The
Walking story here ages ago --but now after Koen's story I'll tell it
again and comment on BBTB too.
My intro Jane was the guy in my local record store who said if I
liked Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush, etc, I would like Jane. So I bought
the Walking.
I listened once or twice and returned the cassette and demanded a
refund, insulted this guy would compare Joni to Jane. Did NOT like it.
A few months later I found the cassette in the dollar bin at my local
thrift shop and said "Aw what the heck, there was that one good song
about the red high heels..." and bought it again (for 99 cents).
The fact that it was on cassette was the reason I became a Jane fan.
I ended up listening to the whole thing over and over and over,
(supposedly waiting for Red HIgh Heels to come around again) but all
the music real started to grow on me in a big way. It's now a
favorite of course.
Meanwhile, at work (a retail store) a friend was playing Bound by the
Beauty over and over and over in the store, and I was getting totally
hooked on the broken record snip of the "verdant Green"
So I sort of got into these two albums at the same time, but found
BBTB much 'easier', while the Walking was more challenging.

Sinse this was about 1989, I was also making the transfer from
cassetes to CDs, so I think this is a definite factor..

The Valley and Hockey are my favorite cuts on BBTB. I love that we
have beautiful live versions of these too on the Child CD.
