yeah, you see what you think in a few days. i was not immediately impressed,
but wow. i am now VERY impressed with this cd. i love it's pull to think
better tho'ts, it's call to action, "come on come forward, my beautiful
friend" jane (sorry it's just jane to me) has always been calling to me,
trying to draw me out. i love this. i need this. i am so blessed.

it's june 21, 2009. summer started today in my hometown (new york city).
summer also started in the Yukon on june 21, and in most (but not all of)
canada.
and with summer's arrival, SoJ/I hits its final week, with "Dragon Dreams",
the only entry from Issa - released in 2008, with eleven tracks. (the first
track is an a capella snippet of part of the tenth track, "A Train Is
Coming".)
i listened to the album for the first time yesterday, and it's playing now in
the background. it didn't "click" with me until "Oui Allo?". i like this song
and some of the later songs. the album as a whole reminds me the most of
jane's "Lips", and maybe "Hush" as well.
seems perfectly appropriate for this to be an Issa release, and not a Jane
Siberry release. the way i'm thinking about things at the moment is that Issa
= certain parts of Jane writ large.
i find these parts of Jane somewhat interesting, and sometimes entertaining.
yet, unfairly to Issa, i keep looking for/hoping for the complexity of some of
Jane's earlier work, mixed with the simplicity of some _other_ parts of Jane's
earlier work, and don't quite see either in "Dragon Dreams".
but it's only been one day. i'll see what i think in a few days.
