Re: 30 years, and 30 days....

My wife and I got together after "meeting" on this list, back in 1998,
so ok, I feel inclined :). Thanks for the invitation.

I encountered Jane with No Borders Here, and hearing Mimi on the Beach
on the Ottawa radio station CHEZ. (I lived in upstate New York, a few
miles from the Canadian border, and Ottawa was the nearest city.) I
got her paper newsletter and wrote to her "assistant" (forgotten the
name) to see if there was anything I could do to help, which I later
learned was Jane herself :).

My wife heard of Jane through a friend, Kathy, who helped organize some
Jane tours in the Pacific Northwest in the 1990s. And we briefly met
Jane ourselves, with Kathy, at a concert at the Aladdin in Portland
ca.2001 when she was touring City. I remember her plugging in a tape
player with the backing arrangement to The Kiss and saying "I didn't
bring the symphony orchestra with me, so this will have to do."

I found The Walking in a random record store in the early 1990s, not
having any idea of its existence ("do I not have this record already?"),
and was blown away. I was also struck by Teenager. And so much more.

P.S. Her discography on wikipedia needs a bit of updating for the more
recent albums, if anyone is up for that.
