I don’t know if I am right of course, but I always thought that John Cage was experiencing his own tinnitus as some tinnitus can be heard in the high and the low frequencies. I have this kind of tinnitus. It’s exactly what I hear when I enter an anechoic chamber or when I am in a very quiet environment.
