Yeah - I can understand that feeling. And since Nicky Skopelitis stepped away, yes....guitar does not seem to be as much of the equation anymore. Those two releases were quality stuff though. I really need to pull them out more now that you make me think about them.

TR as a moniker probably has confused things too....while there were the actual 'festivals' (or whatever you want to call them), it has been applied to other projects or shows that share a vibe. But as sort of an umbrella term as opposed to being part of what we think of as TR.

As with all the Japanese releases over the years, it IS a shame that they're not more accessible, though these days certainly the digital option is better than nothing. Seems like few labels make deals with resellers who will deal in FLAC though, so unless you're selling them yourself...

As you pointed out (in some respect) a lot of the shows over the years have been available on Dime and such. I enjoy almost all of them - I agree with you too in that a lot of times everything gels and it's not just improv with no direction. Which is why they work. All good food for thought when it comes to being able to present things through the MOD Tech store. Though sometimes it's hard to see from a distance, these things aren't always so easy as "hey, we have this, let's sell it" and a day later there it is. because this is a full-on label with distribution partners there are logistics involved. And of course, Bill has a million balls in the air so there's that as well.

Hopefully within the next month or two things will be back to a normal current and all the upcoming goodies will be on a schedule. So I apologize for small teasers and then the inability to actually give you more concrete info on what's to come! but believe me....in addition to what's currently being worked on, there's already a batch of stuff in the can.

The latter was improv & I suspect the other was as well though obviously they had more opportunity to tweak/mold the results. I like both & maybe Kai more. For some reason the Tokyo Rotation improvs have usually turned out well IMO - actually "gel-ing" & "constructing" nice grooves rather than just wild playing in different directions. Not necessarily every day listening stuff though! I've not found either in flac. I try to avoid mp3's whenever possible. But thanks for the links

Oz also, one presumes based on his current doings at Prairie Sun is also quite busy. And as much as anything would undoubtedly be better than the bootlegs floating around, I don't think any of the musicians involved would want to release things willy nilly, no matter how much we may want it!

I also expected Oz would be around on many live dates, etc. I for one wouldn't be picky about their quality per se as far as mix/master, etc etc. However, I do see where rights/clearances (esp. a label release as in P-Vine vs. the same material being made available as download) could get complicated. Although with a solo show (Koyaanisqatsi), Material & MoD that should be less of an issue presumably.

He certainly has the expertise & people around him to do so at a pretty low cost. How much could it cost to host more sound files on the site along with the official release ones? Especially given the relatively fewer official cd releases in recent years. A "Beat the Boots" type thing w/o the cost of their physically released. As is he only earned money from the individual shows & this would be a way to earn a little "extra" from having done them. Frisell & many others currently do this.

Unless you live in Japan or Europe there's not that many Laz live shows to get to!
