yup on both counts. Andy Haas did a great album for Avant way back when called "Arnhem Land". Duets between didgeridoo and other instruments - don't have it in front of me, but I believe (more or less) two tracks each with people like Fred Frith, Cyro Baptiste, Keiji Haino and some others.

Not really. They were a 'hit' by dint of their novelty at he time (early '90's), with a hodge podge of styles, eg reggae (teeth grinding) and other 'worldbeat' affectations. Politically they had some positive things to say on indigenous people here and the importance of reconciliation
