ELP def got (or were) hokey & Emerson didn't turn out to have much original compositions in him but he certainly could play (though he quickly slid into Spinal Tap level histrionics & "rock star" ism's).   Saw a video clip of Bernie, Emerson & (I think) Wakeman talking backstage somewhere - prob'ly a Moog event (?) - not too long ago but can't find it at the moment.  They were clearly friendly w/ each other & familiar w/ their respective works.
