The sound of the record was somewhat intentional from what I know. It was
part of the whole thought process of trying to drag Ethiopian music into
the 21st century - to get young people excited about new music. Bill's
talked a lot about the great tradition in Ethiopian music, but also the
fact that he (and Addis Agesse who is hugely instrumental in making Jano
what they are) wanted to grab some of the great young musicians there and
get a modern sound out to the masses.

Down the road though, there is the possibility you may get something new
from them that will be much more 'raw'.
