I also was introduced to Mr. Phyfe at the Feb.1 show of Blackmore's
Night. My fiancee has been a fan of B.N. for quite some time, and I
went along as it seemed a)prudent for the relationship, and b)a good
opportunity to hear some nice live music. I have to say I was awfully
disappointed with the main attraction that evening; Mr. Blackmore
struck me as somewhat of a prima dona, there were nazi patrols at the
perimeter hammering out the do's and don'ts of the concert, and the
indoor levels were so high as to be painful. Overall, kind of ick.
However, there was one beautiful, saving memory for the evening. When
I heard the opening act, I could feel my heart open as Mr. Phyfe sang.
The words were beautiful, his voice was beautiful, and I felt as if
he were singing for me truly as his friend and not as a paying member
of the audience. I tend more toward the acoustic experience anyway,
and I couldn't have been in a better mood for the opening act (in
spite of what followed).
Once song that particularly made an impact on me was "La Prima Vez."
I was so moved by that song, that I decided I had to buy the CD
immediately. After playing it again for my fiancee when we got home,
we decided it would be the first song we dance to as a married couple
at our wedding.
I want to thank Owan Phyfe for giving us that gift for our wedding. I
wish him nothing but good and beautiful things, and I sincerely hope
to see him in concert again. It's funny, but I really did leave
feeling a warm and friendly connection to him.
Your music, sir, is a wonderful gift to all those who hear it. Thank
you again.
Sincerely,
Kris Wilbur (soon to be Geering)
