We just shot a music video of our version of Cantiga 166 (Como Poden) from the 13th C. Cantigas de Santa Maria from the Court of Alfonzo the Wise.  It’s now in the process of being edited… we don’t know what it looks like yet, but we’re excited to be transporting these ancient melodies into the 21st century.

Our flute player Bob is writing a book!  “Renaissance Festival Favorites” will be published next year by Mel Bay.  It’s going to be a very useful compilation of beautiful Medieval, Renaissance and Celtic folk melodies set in melody and guitar chord arrangements. Bob has spent literally the past 15 years working on this book! We’re sure it will be a valuable resource for anybody that would like to learn to play our kind of music.  

In case you haven’t heard, Mark Caudill, the fiddler for Cantiga for the last five years or so, had a beautiful healthy baby boy named Sky! You can see a picture of the new happy family in the “Photo” section of our website.

We all miss him a lot but wish him the best of luck, and hope we will all be playing together soon.

We’re also looking into getting more gigs outside of the Renaissance Festival circuit, especially University gigs.  We recently performed at Tarrant County College in Texas and had so much fun and such positive feedback that we’d like to take Cantiga into this new direction. 

At the moment, Cantiga is available for gigs from August 15- October 1.  Please feel free to contact us if you need music for special occasions, festivals, school concerts, etc:
