Dear Friends,

I am so happy and amazed that I was able to see Owain Phyfe perform in person. I never
thought I would see that day.... allow me to tell my story...

I used to perform at the Southern California Ren Pleasure Faire when it was located near
San Bernardino. I was part of St. Swithin's guild... the Mongers, headed by Phil and Sharon
Moyer (God Bless Both of their Graceful Souls). I included my children, Jess and Joe as
baby mongers. They were 8 and 10 years old when we started. I had the time of my life,
with my children performing, singing and experiencing Faire to the fullest. My husband,
Jose, had not participated the first couple of years. He was a very talented actor, musician
and artist and was always tied up in a project or two. One year, he was able to join us.
The first day of workshops we are standing in the registration line when someone from
management approached Jose and asked if he would like to audition for the Spanish
Ambassador character. Well... needless to say - he got the role and was the most splendid
and powerful Spanish Ambassador. Most of his shows were in the afternoons, so he
joined up with the Mongers in peasant garb to do morning market... as a different
character.

Being the consumate actor and musician, he wanted to try some new music and play this
great Lute-tair he found in a pawn shop.... so off we went to Virgin Records to see what
17th Century Folk Music existed in the modern marketplace. It was that trip to the record
store where we discovered the music of Owain Phyfe. We bought the CD of When Beauty
Moves and learned many of the songs to sing in the streets. Our children were exposed to
the amazing voice and music of Owain. What an amazing talent! I am still in such awe.

Soon we had to stop doing Faire as the children grew and high school commitments took
over... but we will never forget those magical years with Owain as our soundtrack.

Sadly, my husband Jose passed away two years ago... within the same year as both Phil
and Sharon Moyer. He was taken too young and I am still grieving.

So... I was avoiding Faire, because of the memories and how I missed him so much when I
received one of those email blasts from the Ren Faire. I heard that some of my friends
would be performing so I clicked on the schedule... really just to see what my pals were up
to .. when LOW AND BEHOLD!!!! I discovered that Owain would be performing right here
in California! So off I went to Faire that weekend. I didn't tell my grown children I was
going. As I sat and listened to this great musician, I called my daughter Jessie so she
could hear it, too. "Guess where I am, Jess?" I say.. and she responded "Are you listening
to a new CD of Owain Phyfe? I don't remember that song." And I said... "No, he is singing
here right in front of me at the Faire!" How cool is that!!!!!

We went back to Faire one more time, on Mother's Day and I was with both my children.
We toasted Jose and listened to the GREAT MUSIC, Live and in Person.

Thank you, Owain Phyfe!

And that is my story.

Thanks for reading it.
