Dear Friends,

There's no playlist or audio streaming for this past Sunday's show, as my
Lady Rita and I took leave of Avalon to attend the Maryland Renaissance
Festival. My sincere thanks to Carla VanDyke, who, by all accounts, hosted
a most enchanting edition of the Mists of Avalon.

The highlight of the Maryland Renaissance Festival was experiencing Owain
Phyfe and friends perform, and getting a chance to meet him and his Lady
Paula. I don't know how to convey the warmth and delight of the occasion!
You can be sure I'll try to describe it on the air this Sunday.

This Sunday will be a special show. We will feature music from CDs that
we'll be offering as premiums on our fundraiser edition of The Mists of
Avalon the following week, on Oct. 20. I'm delighted to announce that one
of the CD premiums is "Tales from the Vineyard" the mesmerizing new
recording by Owain Phyfe and The New World Renaissance Band! (a review of
the album is posted at http://www.nightwatchrecording.com/reviews/1009.html
and a track listing is at
http://www.nightwatchrecording.com/playlist1009.htm )

We'll have some other wonderful CDs available as premiums as well, including
Castlebay's lovely new Celtic collection "Tapestry IV" and guitarist
extraordinaire El McMeen's "Live" recording. From Maggie's Music label,
there's a fine collection of fiddle music called "Scottish Reflections" by
Bonnie Rideout, which is culled from several different albums, and Ensemble
Galilei's new seasonal delight entitled "A Winter's Night." Our friends at
Compass Records have also donated some recent CDs, and I've dug up a few
hard-to-find gems that belong in every "Avalon" collection.

Tune in live this Sunday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eastern Time on WDVR-FM, online
at www.wdvrfm.org and on-air at 89.7 and 91.9 to hear all of these CDs.

I hope you'll also make a point of joining Lady Rita and me Oct. 20 for The
Mists of Avalon's fundraiser edition for WDVR. It's what keeps us on the
air and online, and we deeply appreciate the support of our listeners near
and far.

Fare thee well,

Walt Haake
