Owain's Valentine Concert

My wife, Betty, and I watched the Valentine concert by Owain on Friday.  We
enjoyed it a lot!

We watched it at the Unionville Tavern in Unionville Ohio near Geneva Ohio.
It is the oldest tavern in Ohio and was part of the underground railroad
during the Civil War.

It is a beautiful old building inside and out.  Owain and Silent Lion played
in the ballroom upstairs.  Silent Lion played approximately from 6:00 to
7:00 and from 8:00 to 9:00.  Owain played from approximately 7:00 to 8:00
and from 9:00 to 10:00.  There were encore songs after 10:00.

Along with the CD's for sale, there were posters for sale (2 for $5) that
were replicas of many of Owain's CD's.

Lady Paula accompanied Owain with some light drumming and occasional
background vocals, especially for Maid In Bedlam.

Since it was Valentines Day, Owain played all romantic songs.  I can't think
of any romantic songs he left out from any of his recordings.

Owain played one song for the first time in public.  It was a beautiful
Mexican song in which Owain warned that he had to "try" to hit some pretty
high notes in the song.  He hit the high notes superbly.  In fact, all of
his songs sounded great!

Owain remarked that Rio, who was not there that night, had recently traveled
back to Texas from Chile at the same time the terrorist alert went high
again.  That brought laughter!

It was a great time to hear Owain sing on Valentine's Day.  It was the first
time I saw him perform indoors and without a hat!  It seemed strange not to
have trees around!  It was also the first time we saw him in the wintertime
which had added new meaning when he sang "Drive The Cold Winter Away".

One guest sang a duet with Owain for the "Dafney" song.  Silent Lion sang
two encores and Owain finished with three encores where two were requests
"Anabella" and "Dafney".  The last song of the evening was "Health To The
Company" where almost everyone in the audience sang along and a few couples
danced to it.

All in all, a very memorable evening with fantastic music!
