It's called "accelerated lifetime testing" and is a standard and 
well-understood practice in industry.

Of more relevance (to me) is the question "will there be (affordable) 
drives to playback these media decades from now?".

Wouldn't want to be caught today with an ultra-rare 1970 TD concert on a 
8-inch floppy disk, even if said disk was everlasting ;-)

My own answer to this predicament is to use the most affordable storage 
today. My whole music collection easily fits on one $100 3TB drive (plus 
one backup).
And I'm prepared to copy over to new, then-current media, every 5-10 years.
