Windeck-Schladern. A small town in the Siegerland - mountainous hills, a venue near a small waterfall. TDs concert was headliner of the three-day event "Schwingungen - Festival am Wasserfall".
Small venue, small stage - Thorsten und Ulrisch on the left and on the right with keyboards and other machinery (Thorsten alsow with a guitar), in the middle Hoshiko with violin, music stand and "FX" machine. No big TV screens this time, but a big screen for the projector behind the stage.
Before TD started to play the organizer welcomed Bianca on stage who said a few words about Quantum Years and the forthcoming tours in 2017: Asia, South America, Europe (I'm not sure whether she also mentioned North America).
Then they started to play. Opener was "Mothers of rain" followed by "Logos Blue". The show went on with several Quantum pieces and, I think, with a version of the Jarre collaboration. A long bombastic rework of "Rubicon 1" was played as well as "Dolphin Dance". I also remember "The Silver Boots of Bartlett Green". First of two tracks of the (planned) first encore was "Song of the whale Part 2" with pictures of Edgar - very touching. After over two hours the band, esp. Thorsten, seemed very exhausted. The audience was cheering and demanded another encore. After some discussion between Thorsten and Ulrich they played a last track (I didn't recognize it). Most of the show was accompanied by visuals, some old, some new parts.
This time some tracks were linked together, others were not.
I had really mixed feelings when I entered the venue, not only about the small stage setup but also about a TD concert without Edgar. But in the end it was really fantastic. I had never expected that: The band managed to combine a new style (the sounds were a bit "harder" than they used to be, modernized in some way) with the old magic! This was in no way a bretayal of Edgar's ideas but something new for the audience.
What I really could not understand ist that there were so few of the "old" more or less known fans in the audience. I recognized only 4 or 5 (!). What a shame - you really missed something.
If possible I will definitely attend one or more TD concerts next year.
Btw.: The merch stall offered the "Szczechin concert" double CD (great stuff, the track list differes a bit from the Windeck concert), the "Tenerife" DVD, some older discs and and some T-shirts.
