The cell phone might well be part of the performance nowadays. We have a local folk music series where I watched a Scottish band all use cell phones to tune their instruments, and the soundman now uses a tablet rather than a mixing desk. Which is actually nice as it lets him sit in the middle of the audience instead of his old post at the back of the hall. We seem to be back to the late 80s/early 90s where much of the concert is playback rather than live (at one point it looked like Thorston got out his cell phone!!)
