Hi ..... you raise a good point re.Hoshiko. Why doesn't she get composition credits? I have never understood this biz. I mean - the others tell her what to play? This especially flummoxed me completely with Popol Vuh.
Florian had most of the comp. credits, yet several LP's had Danny dominating instrumentally. He was playing what Florian told him to?
Nik Turner gets the credit for Hawkwind's Almighty Classic 'Brainstorm'.
The band play what he told them to? Even when they take off after Nik finishes his lines?
She usually has her laptop onstage. What does she do with it I wonder?
Only effects for her violin?
I find 'Blue Arctic Danube' disappointing, mainly cos she's mostly scraping the violin, rather than playing it. When she plays, it's wonderful, I wish she did much more. On some tracks she'll only come in for the final minute and a half/two.
Sounds like you've chosen to bypass the studio releases - did you check 'em on yt and not like much?
I think Mala Kunia, Q.Key, Q.Gate & Light Flux full-length are all well worth getting. Latecomers to the new phase of TD are lucky in that QK & QG are now bundled together as a 2CD from next Friday 27.4.18.
Very strange, the last tk. on QG also being the 1st on Disc 2, but the remaining 3 tks of Q.Key are essential........I felt compelled to spend around £10 just for them, only to find out right then about this bundle.......somewhat annoying but........
Sometimes I thought QG sounded like music for affluent ppl, having a wonderful life (could start an argument I know - don't bite the hook)....and I have other reservations like the one mentioned, but overall I'm very, very glad Edgar initiated the Q.Years phase, generally it's really good, and we have some pretty great stuff from the vaults let loose on Light Flux too.
As not only a 70's to early 80's fan but a big fan of Manuel Gottsching (E2-E4? Only first 10 mns really) solo or with just Lutz, and A.R.T., I am very grateful indeed and supportive of the current TD.
It is in my view one of music's great tragedies that Manuel steadfastly refuses to release any new music since 13 yrs now, endlessly focusing on E2-E4 and now early Ash Ra Tempel.
Truly Heartbreaking. What a contrast and what a fantastic antidote to that sorry state of affairs, that Edgar got these 3 musicians together, made Mala Kunia, Q.Key and started QG and the future TD.
The other big development ignored completely here, such is the sad, bewildering apathy, is the ace doc 'Revolution of Sound' which finally came out March 2nd on DVD. Another real treat -we're spoiled I guess - it revealed courtesy of Dieter Dierks, that 'Atem' era TD made an album with Timothy Leary.
What a well kept secret that was..........now the Big Q. is if/when it will be released.
You missed out on Edgar's giant book?
Thx for the welcome interesting post. Good to hear of another supporter of the current TD. There are some who think their view 'this is not TD' is more important than Edgar's instigation, which is really rank......
