The longevity of CDRs depends on the quality of the disc. The blue substrate discs are the poorest. Paper labels can cause CDRs to degrade. Taiyo Yuden now owned by JVC is probably the best. JVC has discontinued making the TU CDRs. But there's still many in stock. I use the ink jet printable ones. Falcon Media also makes great CDRs. DVDRs have a short lifetime due to the poor quality ink used for the substrate. Even real DVD movies are prone to losing data. Bluray is much better.
