Argus clients and flow-tools

Is there a way to get the configure process for the argus clients to look for
libft.so in addition to/instead of libft.a when building the clients with
support for the flow-tools package?  RedHat, Fedora, and CentOS all supply a
libft.so with the flow-tools-devel package.  To get a libft.a, we have to get
the source rpm, build the flow-tools package, and then build a .a file from
the library .o files.
