I made most of the changes you suggested, although often I used a
different form for the changes.  I didn't eliminate the use of //
comments in the c++ tree -- that seems unnecessary.

I also didn't understand the change you wanted to make with the shared
libraries in "threaded_os/examples/unix/Makefile.in", so I didn't put
that in.  What's that for?
