The idxp source code doesn't need to be placed inside the roadrunner source tree. idxp only requires
that roadrunner is installed on the system.

This is strange. what happens when you run "automake --version" ? Maybe the automake binary isn't in the
$PATH or you have multiple binaries installed.

No, there currently doesn't exist any tgz release of idxp, and please note that the current version
of rridxp requires the cvs version of roadrunner (roadrunner 0.8 isn't new enough).
