Is it feasible to apply SNMP to the communication of IDS?

Dir sirs:
    I am researching the communication between IDS in the distributed 
network. SNMP can 
be used in the communication of device in the distributed network. AND SNMP 
is a relative nature and simple protocol. What's more, SNMPv3 has imported 
some security policy, I think it can fit the security requirements of the 
communication between IDS in the distributed network. So is it feasible to 
apply SNMP to the communication between IDS in the distributed network?
