directory download

partial downloads of files could be in arbitrary order and cant be 
used until the download has completed.

what about partial downloads of directories?
i have some file in the directory that seem complete but are 
unuseable. does the entire directory need to complete b4 the 
individual files can be used?

if the source is corrupt, i'd like to know before downloading all 
8GB of the directory to find out.
