Practical Limit for BtLaunchMany

I was wondering if anyone knows the limit of the number of torrents that
can be opened simultaneously with btlaunchmany[curses]? Is it totally
system dependent (RAM, CPU, etc.) or is there some limit in the program
itself? I launched it with 1600 or so torrents and it seems to run ok,
but didn't really do anything.
