hmm. I was always slightly suspicious of SHA1 due to the last minute change
that was added to it. SOmeone knew something then.

Performance starts to become a major issue with some of these other hash
functions. Anyone one of any pages with up to date performance figures?

Might be worth offernig a choice of hash function in the protocol, for the
paranoid....
