Its a testing server (like most free servers) and needs to be worked on every now and then this is the point that the nay-sayers miss when they say free servers dont work. freebin-auth.readnews.com can some times be a bit slow to start up as there are so many people going at it, have timeouts at 300 second and 30 sec re-trys to not cane the servers. As for cost, I just dont feel the need to pay over the odds for something... in fact anything. I think its a waste, as for the servers being slow so what (that is when the few of them are that EN.nl server could max out my 8meg line with 2 connections as do most others), I dont sit watching my downloads, I dont have the time to waste, and ten 30KB/sec servers are getting to be a good speed anyway, and if that really was the case (free servers are slow) I would not be able to get the 10+ gigs of data I get most days. When I first started playing with usenet/free servers there was nothing else, pay NSP's are a new thing, and the search is only really from the start I then keep track and check each NSP testing server a few times a month and when they are back on I use them, when they are not... there will be another. The only hard bit is BNR3 cant seem to work with more than about 14~15 servers in it at one time so I have to telnet to the ones I done keep in it, or have to more them around when they stop testing L. -- Want to help to keep the best free usenet servers running ? http://www.readfreenews.com Important Addresses: Post message: [email protected] Group owner: [email protected] BNR homepage: http://www.bnr2.org/ Yahoo!
