Hi Gandalf , Thanks Avishay -----Original Message----- From: Gandalf [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, September 06, 2012 9:16 PM To: Support requests/questions about cacti Subject: Re: [cacti-user] troubleshooting timeouts on localhost snmp scripts I assume, that the timeouts stem from SNMP request against those "extend" scripts. It may happen, that those scripts take too long. Please make sure, that reasonable timeouts are used with commands used within those scripts. It may be a good move to change timeout settings for the cacti host definitions as well. As you're using spine, running that in verbosity=3 will provide polling times per host. This may further narrow down performance issues Reinhard On 05.09.2012 03:00, Voytek Eymont wrote: > I have cacti/spine 8.8a on centos 6 vps monitoring local > host/apache/postfix/mysql/dovecot > > all works good, BUT, maybe twice a day, sometime not, sometimes more, > I get weird timeouts, get white blanks on some graphs > > how can I t/s this further ? > > most of the data comes from /etc/snmp 'extend' script lines like so: > > 'extend dovecotpop3login /etc/snmp/dovecot-stats-pop3-login' > > /etc/snmp/dovecot-stats-pop3-login > 236173 > 0 > 164499 > 1915 > 106 > 634 > 329 > 69759 > 55190 > 10572 > 302 > 0 > 3 > 3695 > 843 > 0 > > > ------------------ > 09/05/2012 10:05:09 AM - SYSTEM STATS: Time:4.5051 Method:spine > Processes:2 Threads:4 Hosts:9 HostsPerProcess:5 DataSources:343 > RRDsProcessed:221 > > 09/05/2012 10:05:08 AM - SPINE: Poller[0] Host[3] TH[1] DS[117] WARNING: > SNMP timeout detected [500 ms], ignoring host '127.0.01' > 09/05/2012 10:05:08 AM - SPINE: Poller[0] Host[6] TH[1] DS[40] WARNING: > SNMP timeout detected [500 ms], ignoring host '127.0.0.1' > 09/05/2012 10:05:08 AM - SPINE: Poller[0] Host[9] TH[1] DS[1131] WARNING: > SNMP timeout detected [500 ms], ignoring host '127.0.0.1' > 09/05/2012 10:05:08 AM - SPINE: Poller[0] Host[3] TH[1] DS[116] WARNING: > ... > 09/05/2012 10:05:08 AM - SPINE: Poller[0] Host[9] TH[1] DS[1123] WARNING: > SNMP timeout detected [500 ms], ignoring host '127.0.0.1' > ... > > 09/05/2012 10:00:39 AM - EXPORT STATS: ExportDate:2012-09-05_10:00:39 > ExportDuration:19.0354 TotalGraphsExported:486 > > 09/05/2012 10:00:19 AM - SYSTEM THOLD STATS: Time:0.1345 Tholds:1 > DownHosts:0 > > 09/05/2012 10:00:10 AM - SYSTEM STATS: Time:4.2299 Method:spine > Processes:2 Threads:4 Hosts:9 HostsPerProcess:5 DataSources:343 > RRDsProcessed:339 > > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- Live Security Virtual Conference Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond.
