Just to calrify (in case you didn't already know, sorry if you do!);

You can pull the data directly for your self from the rrd files using
rrdtools (by calling them on the CLI).

Cacti is always (almost always!) pulling the data from the rrd files
and calculating statistics on the fly. It isn't storing, for example,
the average throughput of a link or a server load value for each month
in it's MySQL DB. All values are calculated "on the fly", as required
when generating thresholds or displaying graphs.

If you have in house dev's it shouldn't be difficult to pull the data
your self and generate the same statistics.
