Passwords with umlauts

Hi There Has anybody else experienced issues with umlauts in passwords when logging in? This only seems to be an issue with accounts getting their passwords from ldap (AD), local accounts are not affected. Running Cacti 0.8.8a with mysql 5.1.61 and php 5.3.3 on rhel6.
