I have fixed this now, I couldn't reply earlier though, because I fell asleep :)

I stopped all my pollers, and started running them by hand to trace
through the issues.

I found other log entries swamped in amongst the previous ones I
posted, such as;
CMDPHP: Poller[0] ERROR: SQL Assoc Failed!, Error:'2006', SQL:"show tables"

A simple "show tables" query couldn't be executed?!

I executed "mysqlcheck -u aaa -p --auto-repair --optimize
--all-databases" on our MySQL servers as some maintenance had been
performed over there also, and the polling errors went away!

Hopefully that will help someone else.
