ssl cert invalid - force connect?

Hi, i'm trying to connect to a jabberd via ssl that has an invalid cert. Cicq says it's a 404. My user and pass are correct, I'm able to login with another client (psi) which complains about the invalid cert but allows to continue. Is is possible to ignore ssl errors and force connect anyways?
