If it's implemented at all, it probably should be a 'notification' event.
The manual says,
"The latter means centericq's own notifications, such as birthday
reminders, away messages, and other stuff."
It would certainly be sensible to have an event each time a status message
is displayed in the console - which would include users going away, etc -
but I've never figured out what triggers a notification event.
A problem I encountered with the 'online' event (which also occurs with
"buddy pounces" in Gaim): it's impossible to distinguish whether YOU just
logged on, or the other user logged on. Each time you connect to the
server (on AIM at least), you see each of your online contacts log on,
even though they were already logged on. So if you set up an external
action to greet your contacts when THEY log on, you will confuse them by
sending a greeting when YOU log on. This behavior is probably a limitation
of the remote server - but an effective workaround would be an option to
disable external actions for the first N seconds after you log on.
